Ralph J. Lapadula

January 29, 1931 — January 6, 2020

Ralph was born January 29th, 1931, in New York City and lived his young years in the Bronx. He married Audrey McLean at age 19, the only woman he ever loved. They were married 63 and ½ years before she passed away in 2014. They had 4 children, of which both of his sons predeceased him, David (JoAnn) and Philip (Rosemary). He is survived by his two daughters Diane and Elizabeth. He is also survived by 5 beautiful grandchildren: Laurren, Angela, Michelle, Marie and Bethany. He is survived by his brother, Edward LaPadula (Bernice), 3 great grandchildren Paul, Emma, Ryan and many nieces and nephews.

He quit school at age 16 and went to work with his father in a factory. He completed his high school through correspondence courses at age 28. He then moved to Ithaca in 1952 and worked as a laborer. He then moved back to New York City in 1957 and went with NCR as a salesman. He won Club Honors almost every year. He moved up into middle management in Binghamton and Rochester. He was with NCR 16 years. He moved back to Ithaca in 1972 and went with New York Life Insurance, and was with them 11 years. He was Man of the Year most years. He went with New England Life in 1983 and won many awards. He and an associate, the late Wilson Chadderdon, formed a partnership and then a corporation; LaPadula and Chadderdon Assoc. Inc.

He was a Cub Scout Master, President of Ithaca Life Underwriters, lecturer at Ithaca College in the Business School for three years, and was a member of Life Underwriters. He was also a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, a member of Kiwanis and Rotary Club and ran for Common Council and Board of Representatives for the Republican Party from the First Ward. He was also trustee of Frear Cemetery. He served on the Community Police Board. His hobbies were drawing and painting.

He is now looking through a glass clearly, and knowing what is and what is not. He died loving God and his family. He tried to do good, and be kind. Now he is Home.

Services will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ithaca on Saturday, January 11th, with calling hours at 1:00 pm, and the service at 2:00 pm.
