John Henry "Jack" Ryan

John Henry (Jack) Ryan, 78, son of Daniel and Mildred Ryan, passed away in his home on September 07, 2021. He was a long time and very respected local business owner of Ryan's Towing Service.  After many years, he sold his company to pursue his passion for wildlife rehabilitation.  His specialties were working with raccoons and skunks, having a unique bond with these and many other animals.  He will be deeply missed by the community that he served, and by his family.

He is survived by his daughter Cynthia (Karel) Sedlacek (and son Karel) of Ithaca, NY; daughter Deborah (Dan) Ferrell (and daughter Nancy Daly and son Eugene Jansen) of Reston, VA; son David (Jennifer) Ryan (and daughter Christina and son Phillip) of Newfield, NY; son John Ryan (and daughter Anneke) of Freeville, NY; son James (Cheryl) Ryan (and son Connor) of Newfield, NY; daughter Melissa Roland (and daughter Brynn) of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Tina Shafer-Hollister of Ovid, NY; in addition to many great grandchildren.

He was also sadly predeceased by his wonderful son, Richard Ryan of Murrells Inlet, SC.

Friends and Family are invited on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 3-5 pm for calling hours at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green St. Ithaca, NY 14850.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage everyone to enjoy, respect and help protect our wildlife neighbors, just as Jack always did.
