David W. Lower

January 13, 1957 — August 8, 2019

Ithaca - David W. Lower passed peacefully on August 8, 2019 at Oak Hill Manor in Ithaca.

He was born January 13, 1957 in Ithaca NY, the son of Robert T. And Hattie M. (Cooper) Lower.

David married the love of his life very young and they had the enjoyment of celebrating 44 years of marriage in April.

David had many professions and had said he felt he'd lived many lives in his lifetime.

One of his first jobs was working at Morse chain. Then he moved on to logging and excavation work.

Many knew him as the owner of "Dave's Used Cars" where he and his wife Barbara E (white) Lower ran the business from their home for nearly two decades.

David was more recently known as a friendly and caring landlord to many low income families. He'd always had a tender place for the less fortunate and this really showed through his repeated dedication to helping in his own ways.

As a man with a natural affinity for the outdoors and the sports that come along with them, he was fantastic at reducing the White Tail Deer population in and around the Ithaca area. He was also well known from Ithaca to Quebec Canada as a superb fisherman, equaling commercial anglers.

David loved music, especially live music, fireworks and like many people, a variety of things. But most of all, spending time with his family was his favored hobby. A true family man, he really set an example for numerous family and friends by his consistent actions and with his words of wisdom, coming from his distinct way of thinking. He was especially adept at showing, encouraging and offering advice on how to perform tasks, to do more with their lives and to truly live it.

An avid vacationer, he often could been seen persuading someone into taking a cruise with him, or pointing out the amazing perks of such a journey.

David was an extremely unique and special man, those who had the honor to really know him were blessed. It was difficult to miss his natural protective qualities, unexpected witty sense of humor, and outstanding ability to make you feel loved, even if it was not in the traditional, spoken sense.

Fortunately, his passing was peaceful after a three year battle, however, he will be deeply missed.

In addition to his infant sister Marion Lower and infant son David W.Lower Jr. he was predeceased by his maternal Grandfather and grandmother Albert and Ellen A (Dickson) Cooper, paternal grandfather and grandmother Henry and Beatrice (Bolsby) Lower.

Surviving in addition to his parents Robert T. And Hattie M. (Cooper) Lower is his wife Barbara E (White) Lower and children Son William R. Lower, daughter Christina M. Lower, grandson Cooper D. Lower-Morgan, two brothers Robert Lower (Roberta) and Gary H. Lower Sr. (Debra) And sister Deborah (Lower) Kalwara (Raymond), and several Aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews.
