POUGHKEEPSIE - Alyce K. Sherwood, 93, died on July 18, 2019, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY. She was born May 24, 1926, in Cleveland, OH.
Alyce worked for the purchasing department at Cornell University for over 35 years. She enjoyed squareanaders, reading and word searches.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edmund L. Sherwood, Sr.; her daughter, Janet Aguirre; her stepson, Lynn Sherwood. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Warren) Brown of Galloway, NJ; her son, Ed (Dawn) Sherwood of Fishkill, NY; her stepsons, Neil (Diane) Sherwood of Danby, NY and Gary Sherwood, of Atlanta, GA; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 5-7 pm on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Bangs Funeral Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Church, 113 North Geneva Street in Ithaca, NY. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Spencer.
In lieu of flowers, Alyce's family asks that donations in her memory be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
