In Loving Memory of Yvonne Longo Swain (1948 - 2023)

On August 19, 2023, Yvonne Longo Swain departed this world unexpectedly but peacefully, slipping away while taking a nap. She was 75 years old, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories. As we come to terms with her passing, we are drawn together to celebrate her life and the indelible mark she left on us all.

Yvonne is survived by her devoted husband, Tim Swain, who shared 53 beautiful years of marriage with her, a testament to their bond. She was the loving mother of Kelly Swain Sexton and son-in-law Mark Sexton, as well as David Swain and daughter-in-law Sarah Swain. Yvonne adored her four grandchildren who brought daily joy into her life. She also leaves behind her brother, Nick Longo, and a vast network of close friends and extended family members who she cherished.

Professionally, Yvonne excelled as a real estate agent, dedicating over three decades to serving the Rochester, NY community through her work with Coldwell Banker and Nothnagle. Her dedication, expertise, and genuine care for her clients left an enduring impact on those she served.

Born in Ithaca, NY, Yvonne's life journey led her to Scottsville, NY, where she spent the majority of her years before embracing a new chapter in Vero Beach, FL in 2017. Her educational pursuits took her to Alfred and SUNY Brockport.

In reflecting on Yvonne's life, her loved ones remember some of her most cherished qualities:

Radiant Emotion: Yvonne's capacity for vulnerability was a testament to her authenticity. She embraced her emotions wholeheartedly, loving deeply, crying freely, laughing loadly, and always hugging a little bit longer.

Unconditional Love: Yvonne was a natural at being a mother and grandmother. Her ability to see beyond imperfections and love unconditionally made her a beacon of acceptance and understanding.

Forgiving Heart: While she forgave easily, Yvonne never let go of the lessons learned. Her strong memory served as a reminder of life's experiences and the growth that came with them.

Bringing Light: Yvonne had an uncanny knack for brightening any room or family gathering. She encouraged authenticity and brought out the best in those around her.

Connection with Water: Yvonne found solace and joy in the beauty of the beach and the tranquility of the lake. Her love for Ithaca and Cayuga Lake, her cherished haven, remained unwavering.

Simple Pleasures: Late nights were special for Yvonne, where she indulged in reading, conversations, card games, and moments by the pool or beach.

Fount of Knowledge: Yvonne's thirst for knowledge and her tendency to be a "know-it-all" stemmed from her genuine understanding of many things.

Inclusive Heart: Yvonne had an extraordinary ability to make everyone she encountered feel like a part of her family, embracing them with love and warmth.

Dreamer and Encourager: Yvonne's dreams knew no bounds. She inspired her loved ones to pursue their aspirations, no matter how grand, and celebrated every step of the journey.

Cherishing Life's Treasures: Yvonne found joy in life's simplest pleasures, from family connections to her gardens, kitchen table conversations, half-moon cookies, homemade pasta sauce, and the taste of Romano cheese.
