William Edward Wagner

January 2, 1931 — November 17, 2015

Bill passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 2, 1931 in Portland Point, New York to John and Elizabeth Wagner. He graduated in 1948, the last class of Ludlowville High School (Lansing High School) starring in football, basketball and baseball. Bill proudly served 4 years in the US Airforce during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his service, Bill attended Ithaca College and later joined New York State Electric and Gas Corporation at Milliken Station becoming Manager of Purchasing and Stores for the Ithaca office. He retired after 37 ½ years of dedicated service. Bill and Anna traveled extensively through the US, and to many European countries, highlighted by visits to the Holy Land, Egypt, and Medjugorie in Bosnia. He avidly followed the Yankees and Giants, but enjoyed all sports. With his family, along with his sister Emily, Bill especially enjoyed Sunday gatherings with good conversation, lots of food, and he especially loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they laughed and played. He loved them dearly. Bill was a lifelong parishioner of All Saints Catholic Church serving as an alter server, a church council member, as an usher, and Bingo worker. Bill is survived by his loving wife Anna, sons William, Robert(Cathy), John(Cindy) of Lansing, Richard(Anita) of Webster, NY; daughters Victoria Poelvoorde and Annette(Frank) White of Lansing, and his sister Emily Tvaroha of Lansing; daughter-in-law Lisa Tzivanis-Wagner of California. Bill is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins, his in-laws Richard and Elsie Zifchock, and Frank Ecker. He was predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth Wagner, son Joseph, and brother-in-law Larry Tvaroha. Family and friends may wish to pay their respects at the Bangs Funeral Home in Ithaca, NY on Friday from 3:30pm to 6:00pm, with the Mass of Christian Burial being held at All Saints Church in Lansing, Saturday the 21st at 10:30am. Internment will be at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to All Saints Church.
