William F. Hayes

William F. "Bill" Hayes, 69, of Newfield, went to be with the angels Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca. He was born in Auburn, NY on April 26, 1943, son of the late Henry Hayes and was raised by his late mother, Della and father, James Browning. Bill graduated from Newfield Central School in 1960 and was employed at Emerson Morse Industrial for 45 years.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Illa; four wonderful children, Bill F. Hayes, Jr., Cindy (Gene) Coon, Mary Beth (Greg) Rapone and Robert (Chrissy) Hayes and his eight grandchildren, Jacob and Jordan Howell, Kate and Tyler Rapone, Mitch, Gavin and Cayden Hayes and Jesse Merilahti. He is also survived by his brothers, Dave (Phyllis) Browning and Gail (Belle) Hayes as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, December 20th from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow, officiated by Rev. Tim Dean. In lieu of flowers, Bill's family requests that donations be sent to the Cayuga Medical Center Foundation's Cancer Fund, 101 Dates Dr., Ithaca, NY 14850.
