Ithaca: Victor DelRosso, 83, died suddenly at his home in Ithaca on April 9, 2012. Vic was born September 18, 1928 in Watkins Glen, NY to Domenico and Margherita DelRosso. His high school sweetheart, Kay (Martino) DelRosso, became his loving wife of 61 years and survives him, as do his five children, Mario DelRosso, Victoria Ambrosio, Rita Battaglia, Tine Donle, and Steven DelRosso; 12 grandchildren, Bethany Ambrosio, Victor E. DelRosso, Kathryn DelRosso, Mark Ambrosio, Phillip Battaglia, Brian Battaglia, Laura Donle, Dominic DelRosso, AJ DelRosso, Stefanie DelRosso, Adam Donle, Rachel DelRosso; and his brother, Joseph DelRosso. Victor was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers. After serving in the US Army 11th Airborne Division and graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology, Victor spent his working career with High Speed Checkweigher Company in Ithaca, NY, helping to found the company and eventually becoming President and CEO. Following the sale of Hi-Speed, he continued in the role of consultant to Hi-Speed and Toledo Scale Corp. He was active in many industry associations including the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) , where he was a past Chairman of the Board and was recently inducted into the PMMI Hall of Fame, the packaging industry's highest honor. After retiring, he went on to become Chairman of the Board for Citizens Savings Bank (M&T Bank) in Ithaca, continuing on M&T Bank's Southern NY Division Directors Advisory Council until last year. He was a longtime active member of the Ithaca Sertoma Club, where he was a past President and District Governor and a member of the City Club of Ithaca. Vic served 13 years on the Ithaca Town Board, was a member of the RIT Alumni Board of Directors, the Nathaniel Rochester Society and Presidents Circle, was a past Commodore of Ithaca Yacht Club, and a member of the Co-Op Hall of Fame. With time and money, Victor also actively supported the Boy Scouts of America and served on the Baden Powell Scout Council Board. Victor was an avid hunter, woodworker, collector, and tinkerer who led an active and full life to his last day, surrounded by his loving family and many longtime friends. Visitation hours will be held on Sunday, April 15th from 12-3 p.m. at Bangs Funeral Home with Funeral Services to be held on Monday, April 16th, at 9 a.m. Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Boy Scouts of America.
