Vera Schirrmacher, 86, of Ithaca, passed away Tuesday June 23, 2015 at Groton Senior housing. Daughter of the late Merritt and Esther Brill Vail.
Vera retired from Eastern Breeders in 1991 after 39 years of dedicated service. She was very dedicated to her family and also an avid bowler and loved playing golf. Survivors include daughter: Margaret (Marty) Christopher, son: Darryl (Diane) Schirrmacher, grandchildren: Michael (Alison) Christopher, Melanie (Chris) Bioty, Kimberley and Karey Schirrmacher, Christine (Bill) McNamara and Ronnie (Sara) Rose 8 great grandchildren, Brother: Carryl Vail and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also pre-deceased by her son: Norman R. Schirrmacher (2011), Sister: Beverly, Beulah and Marilyn and Brother : Milton
A Celebration of her life will be held Wednesday July 8, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Bangs Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Ford officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Private Graveside services will be held at East Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to S.P.C.A. or Meals on wheels.
