Veasna Howe Pedersen

Veasna died after a short illness of natural causes on July 25, 2023. Veasna was born in Bung Tum Pun, Cambodia on May 19, 1986, and spent the first five years of his life in a Cambodian orphanage. At the age of 5 he was adopted by Mark Pedersen (“Dad”) and Rod Howe (“Pa” or “Pappa”).

He was predeceased by his Dad, his Pedersen Grandparents, his Grandma Howe and several aunts and uncles including his beloved Auntie Dian.  He is survived by his Pa, his brother Sethik, aunts, uncles and cousins, and his former partner Anna Pedersen as well as some dear family friends that he considered his uncles. He had a special relationship with his daughter, Mahkia, and the family’s other granddaughter.

Veasna had a complicated life and had many struggles. He grew up in a loving family. Veasna was creative, musical, and artistic. He was a consummate gamer and tech enthusiast. There was always a Veasna story to tell.

There will be a memorial service on Sunday, August 13 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Unitarian Society of Ithaca.
