Tracey R. Whittaker

Tracey R. Whittaker, age 69 of Ithaca, NY, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at home.

Born February 2, 1953 in Ithaca, NY, he was the son of the late Glenn E. Whittaker and Doris Keane Whittaker.

Tracey successfully operated his own business, Whittaker’s Heating & Plumbing for many years, maintaining many loyal customers who regularly recommended him to family and friends. Throughout the years, he was also known to provide his services to those in need, even if they did not have the means to pay him.

Tracey was a member of VFW Post #961, an organization whose work and services he felt very passionate about. He regularly volunteered at the Post in a variety of ways and served as President of the Men’s Auxiliary for several years.

Over the years, he enjoyed playing golf with his friends, puttering in his garage with his son, Matthew, cooking or barbequing chicken for events at the VFW, and driving his 1993 Lincoln Town Car.

Tracey is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Gallagher Whittaker, his son Matthew (Heidi), and was blessed with three granddaughters, Avery, Madilynn and Aubrey; brothers Jack (Sandy), Scott (Cindy), sisters Bonnie Whittaker, Gail (Tom) Martin, Kathy Parker, Kelly (Herb) Parker and Janet (Gordie) Nash.  He also leaves behind brother in laws, sister in laws, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, David Parker.

Family will receive friends on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.  A memorial service will follow at 3:00pm at the funeral home.
