Thomas P. Sims, 82, passed away at home on May 19, 2022. Born June 7, 1939 in Oelwein, Iowa, Tom grew up in Clinton Iowa. In Clinton Tom enjoyed fishing in the Mississippi River, working his newspaper route, and acquiring his ham radio license. After serving in the Army, he moved to Chicago where he worked and attended DeVry. In 1967 he married Patricia Daum. They moved to Ithaca in 1975 when Tom took a job with NCR. He eventually started his own testing and consulting business. Tom was known by his family and friends to be a caring man who tried to help people find their way and reach their potential. Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia, his daughter, Elizabeth (Louis) Brayer and his son, Mark (Jeni) and 3 grandchildren (Thomas, Andrew, and Julia). He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald T. and Marcella Donavon Sims and his sister, Susan. A Mass in celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 11 AM on June 15, 2022 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 309 Siena Drive, Ithaca, New York. Visitation precedes at 10 AM.
