Thomas V. Scaglione, 85, left this world and went home to God surrounded by his loving family on June 16, 2022 at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY. He was born in 1937, raised in Ithaca and attended Ithaca High School graduating in 1954. Tom was appointed to the Ithaca Police Department in 1959 and achieved the rank of captain before retiring in 1987. He was passionate about his work and helped many people throughout his career. He loved solving problems and bringing calm to chaotic situations. Tom was a man of honor, integrity and fairness. He earned the respect of so many people throughout his life and he always tried to leave people better than how he found them. He was a native Ithacan who loved serving his community. Tom served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1955 to 1962.

Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing. Like his father, he was an avid gardener who enjoyed growing plants and flowers, sharing the fruits of his labors with family and friends. Tom served on the Board of Directors for the Italian Society of Mutual Aid, Inc. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sandra Deeley Scaglione, sons Thomas J. Scaglione and Anthony V. (Linda) Scaglione. Brothers, Frank C. Scaglione (Barbara) and Joseph T. Scaglione (Nancy). Also, his 4 granddaughters, Anna, Ashley and Gianna Scaglione and Lyvia Stansfield and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph T and Cordelia Mae Baker Scaglione and his brother Anthony J. Scaglione.

Friends may attend calling hours from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green St., Ithaca, NY A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Donation can be made to: Immaculate Conception Church, 113 N.
