Thomas Mccoy

Thomas J. McCoy III passed away peacefully from complications due to Multiple sclerosis on the evening of February 23, 2022, surrounded by his family. Tom was born in Arlington, VA on January 2, 1957 to Thomas J. McCoy Jr. and Dr. Eileen Carey McCoy. Tom attended Delbarton School in Morristown, NJ and Syracuse University. He was a district manager for Avis Rental Car until he went out on disability due to MS in 2001. An avid sports fan, Tom always rooted for the underdog and was a lifelong Las Vegas Raiders and Cincinnati Reds fan. His most favorite time of year was March Madness. Tom is survived by his loving partner Patty Hollister and his four children: Ariana McCoy (Alec), Jason (Lauren), Joey (Joey) and Patrick Hollister. He is also survived by his sister Eileen McCoy (Kyu) Whang, his niece Maura (Deegan) and his nephew Drew (Adrienne) Whang, and his grand-nephew Remy James Whang. Tom is also survived by the McNamara and Varian families, and his lifelong friend Chris Bonaparte. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours will be held Monday, February 28th at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green St. in Ithaca from 4 – 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 1st in St. Catherine’s of Sienna Church.
