Theresa Armstrong

Theresa Marie (Thomas) Armstrong, 89, passed away on December 2, 2020 in her son’s home in Lansing, NY.

Theresa is predeceased by her husband, Roger O. Armstrong, of Newfield, NY, and a brother Eugene Thomas of Sayre, PA.

Theresa, lovingly known as “Red” by her many friends, loved her rose garden and collected antiques, with which were lovingly and generously handed down to family members over the years. She worked at Ithaca College as a custodian in the Athletic Department for many years. Theresa always fondly remembered her childhood growing up on Meadow Street in Ithaca, and walking back and forth to Immaculate Conception school in the dead of winter.  Her stories of watching the train coming into town with the circus animals was a highlight of her youth.  Sadly, she always mourned the loss of her mother at an early age, and frequently quoted her mother as saying “It’s hell coming into this world and it’s hell going out”.

Theresa loved her family and friends and appreciated the love, support, cards, and flowers she received in her final days.

Theresa is survived by her two sons, Gary Armstrong, of Newfield, NY, and Mark (Jackie) Armstrong of Lansing, NY, grandchildren Marc Armstrong of Conway, SC, Jennifer (Dave) Ryan of Newfield, Sara Armstrong of Newfield, Nicholas (Yvonne) Armstrong of Lansing, Matthew (Carrie) Armstrong of Lansing, Adam (Veronica) Armstrong, and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

There will be no service per her request. There will be a graveside ceremony in the spring of 2021 that will include any family and friends who would like to attend.  If it is your pleasure, donations can be made to the SPCA of Tompkins County in her honor.
