Susan H. Bissell

Susan Helen Bissell, much-loved spouse, mother, grandmother, dear friend and caring teacher, passed away unexpectedly from a heart condition on the morning of Sunday, January 19, 2014.

Born March 29, 1947, Sue, a long-time instructor at The Finger Lakes School of Massage, enlivened every personal interaction with a warm, calming, compassionate presence. Her unique, loving spirit will be greatly missed.

Sue's family and friends deeply grieve their sudden loss, while celebrating her ability to nurture all those around her. She is survived by her husband Ed Finegan, daughters Sara and Emily Finegan, their respective partners Franklin Milton and Michael Troutman, and her granddaughters Sanya and Sorrel Milton, all of Ithaca, as well as her brother Dr. Robert Bissell, his wife Janet Smitheran of Northampton, MA. and their children Aaron and Amanda Bissell.

Sue found joy everywhere in life, whether curling up with a good book or spending hours with her children and grandchildren. A celebration of her life is planned in early spring, date and location to be announced. The family requests that memorials be directed to either the Finger Lakes Land Trust or the Ithaca Children's Garden. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
