Jalso, Steven (Istvan)Steven (Istvan) Jalso passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Friday, May 1, 2015 surrounded by his immediate family and friends. Born February 18, 1930 to Sandor & Illona Jalsoviczky in Budapest, Steven was affected by World War II as a child and was confined to a labor camp for over two years under Communist rule. Steven was educated at the Automotive Institute in Budapest before leaving Hungary with his identical twin brother Alex in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution. Steven received degrees from Dickinson College and Cornell University and was a licensed mechanical engineer. He worked for Cornell for 36 years. Steven was a kind, generous person with a sense of humor who touched many lives with his desire to help. He could fix anything with moving parts and shared his knowledge and skills freely. Active in his church and as a volunteer in the public schools, Steven loved cars, children, and his friends. Steven is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Shirley Jalso; brothers, Alexander and Charles; loving children, Cathy Weston (Michael) and Laura Megeath (Tom); and grandchildren, Grace & Mikayla Weston and Andrew & Eleanor Megeath. Donations in Steve's memory may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Salvation Army, or the SPCA.
