Stanley John Hornbrook died June 29, 2021 in the loving arms of his wife and children after the bravest of battles with multiple myeloma. He was born May 30, 1953 to Raymond and Dorthay Hornbrook. He is survived by his beloved wife Margaret, daughter Meredith Murolo (Michael), son Patrick (Natalie), and five grandchildren (Grace, Charlotte and Mark Murolo, and Quinn and Avery Hornbrook) whom he absolutely adored. In addition, his brother Ray Hornbrook (Kathy), brother and sister-in-law Tom and Rose Grady, brother-in-law John Grady, sister-in-law Sheri and several nieces and nephews survive him. He was pre-deceased by his parents, in-laws, and brother Thomas Hornbrook. John, as he was known, attended Ithaca City Schools and Cornell University. He was an accomplished goldsmith, self-employed for 35 years. He was a devout Catholic with deep and unwavering faith. He prayed and read the Bible daily, continually reflecting on the many blessings bestowed upon him throughout his life. He was a humble gentleman with immeasurable kindness. In many ways, John was truly a Renaissance man. He was self-made, self-taught and could accomplish literally anything he put his mind to. He built a beautiful home for his family. He loved to hunt, fish, and shoot trap. There was always a dog or three by his side. But above all, John was a man with steadfast love for his family. For 46 years John and Margaret shared a love like no other. It was this true love that built the foundation for their beautiful family and life together. All who knew John commented on his strength and what an honorable man he was. May his intrepid and loving spirit live on and be a blessing to all. His family and dear friends will continue to love him and miss him always and forever. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A Memorial Services will be held on July 7, 2021 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church. The family will greet friends from 9:30-10:00 am prior to the service.
