Shirley DeFrahn Naragon, 80, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Cayuga Ridge Nursing Facility. She was born in Ithaca, daughter of the late Alfred and Bernice English Pierce.
Shirley was retired from NCR where she had worked for 20 years. Following her retirement from NCR she worked at the Tompkins County Department of Motor Vehicles for 13 years. She was an avid golfer and swimmer and loved spending summers at Spruce Row and the rest of the year in Zephyrhills, FL following her retirement.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Homan and Yvonne Mainville (John); her grandchildren, Jim Kelly (Tiffany), Chad Kelly (Gayle), Karollea David (Jason), Kira Chesbro(Jay), Ryan Fox, Brittney Mainville, Bryant Moore and Caitlyn Hayes (Tim) and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husbands, James DeFrahn and Vernon "Spike" Naragon; her daughter, Kathy Fox and her dear friend, Raymond Poyer.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Eagles Club. Private burial will be held at Quick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, P. O. Box 1306, Elmira, NY 14902. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
