Shirley S. Beaver

Shirley S. Beaver, 82, of 157 Nelson Rd., Ithaca, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Cayuga Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born December 21, 1930 in Sullivan County, PA to Clarence and Lucille (Hunsinger) Schlock.

Shirley worked at NYSEG as Steno Supervisor for over 35 years, before her retirement in 1985. She and her husband of 62 years, Harold E. Beaver spent many years together after retirement enjoying their family and home. Harold predeceased her on January 26th of this year.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Terry Lee Ruebel (Jakob III); her son, Chris E. Beaver; grandchildren, Michael J. Ruebel, Sr. (Laura) and Kristie M. Ruebel (Rick); her great grandchildren, Lee, Lauren, Michael Jr. and Hunter and great-great grandchildren, Dominic, Layla and Brantley and sister, Arlene Mearian.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 14th at 10 a.m at the Danby Rural Cemetery for those wishing to attend. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Shirley's memory are asked to make a donation to Hospicare, 172, E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850. Arrangements are by the Bangs Funeral Home.
