Ruth M. Pearson

Ruth Mullen Pearson, 97, formerly of McGraw House (previously of Coddington Road) died September 23, 2022, at Cayuga Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born in Ithaca on July 9, 1925, daughter of the late Howard and Anna Ruane Mullen.

Ruth worked as the Comptroller at the Office of Transportation Services of Cornell University for 17 years.  Prior to her marriage to John “Windy” Pearson, Ruth worked at GLF for 10 years.  While her family was growing up, she was a devoted den mother with Pack 66 for six years at the Coddington Road Community Center.  She also served as an election inspector for 17 years, along with being a volunteer driver for the Red Cross blood drives.

Ruth was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she served as Eucharistic Minister, which included serving those in the local nursing homes, and in the later years, her friends at McGraw House.

Ruth is survived by her sons, John (Lisa) Pearson and Tom Pearson; and her daughter, Mary (Ross) Moody.  She is also survived by her grandsons, Ross (Ashley) Moody, Thomas Moody, Patrick Moody, and Conor Pearson; her granddaughter, Caity Pearson; and her great-grandchildren, Camden Moody and Ruth Moody; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her first husband, Frank “Cokie” Toth in 1949, by her second husband John “Windy” Pearson in 2007, and by her sister, Mary Klein in 2011.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Chumo on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 309 Siena Drive, Ithaca.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.  Friends may call on the family on Friday, October 21, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 p.m. at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green Street, Ithaca, NY.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
