Ruth Ward Covert

Ruth W Covert, age 93, passed away on March 13, 2018 at home with her loving daughter, Marsha Durling, by her side. Ruth was a long-time resident of Ithaca, NY. She was born in Wyalusing, PA and graduated from Ithaca High School. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who cared deeply about her family. She will be missed dearly. Ruth was the daughter of the late Raymond Ward and Helen (Dillenback) Ward and she was the oldest daughter of thirteen children. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, C. F. (Joe) Durling, her son Mark Durling, and her second husband, John Covert of Interlaken; as well as by sisters Eleanor Scott, Frances Moran, Janice Ward; and brothers Lewis, Marshall, Ronald, Richard, Jack, and Carl Ward. Ruth is survived by her daughters Marsha and JoAnn of Alaska, grandsons Justin and Trevor Fulton of Alaska, great granddaughter Hanhan Durling. She is also survived by brothers Paul Ward of New York and Charles Ward of New York and sister Donna Morgan of Florida and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Per her request, there will be no services. Contributions can be made to your local humane society in memory of Ruth and her dog, Lucy, or charity of your choice.
