Russell M. Simone, 89, of North Applegate Rd. Ithaca, NY died Monday July 6, 2015 at Cayuga Medical Center. He was born July 2, 1926, in Phillipsburg, NJ, son of the late Abel and Elizabeth Leisko Simone.
Russell was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII and Korea. He retired from Cornell University and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
He is survived by wife of 65 years, Dorothea Webster Simone; daughters, Mary Anna (Allan) Gowan, Jeannette Simone, Patricia (Thomas) Simone-Ball and Christine (Andrew) Parks; 11 Grandchildren 4 great grandchildren, a niece and a nephew. In addition to his parents he was also pre-deceased by his son, Russell Michael Simone Jr. (04/23/2010).
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Jeffrey Tunnicliff officiating. Burial with full military honors to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either Immaculate Conception Church, Immaculate Conception School or the Franziska Racker Center.
