Roy A. Trask, Sr.

Roy A. Trask, Sr., longtime Newfield resident, died Saturday, December 21, 2019. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, NY son of the late James and Clara Williamson Trask.

Roy was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired as chief gas fitter at NYSEG after 30 plus years of service and had served as President of IBEW Local 961. He was a member of the Newfield Lions Club and a life member of the Newfield Rod & Gun Club. Roy was an avid trap shooter, golfer and boater. He had been involved in modified car racing as both an owner and a fan. He loved spending his winters in New Port Richey, FL.

Roy is survived by his wife, Barbara Foux Trask; his sons, Roy (Virginia) Trask, Jr, Randy (Karen) Trask, William (Karen) Trask and Thom Trask; his grandchildren, Roy III (Clea), Zachary (Sheridan), Gavin, Jordan, Katia and Jamison; great grandchildren, Jocelyn, William and Lilliann and his step daughter, Karen (Sean) Brame. In addition to his parents, Roy was also predeceased by his brothers, Mandley, James and Robert Trask; his sister, Carol Vanderpool and step son, Jeffrey Brame.

Memorial services will be held at 3 pm Friday, January 3, 2020 at 3 pm at the Newfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Kelly officiating. A reception will be held in the church immediately following the service. Friends may call at the church prior to the service beginning at 2 pm. Burial with military honors in Evergreen Cemetery, Berkshire, NY will be delayed. In lieu of flowers donations in Roy’s memory may be made to the Newfield United Methodist Church, 227 Main St., Newfield, NY 14867 or to CNY Alzheimer’s Assoc., 441 W. Kirkpatick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
