Ronald S. Ronsvalle

October 18, 1937 — January 16, 2016

Ronald Salvatore Ronsvalle 78, died after a short illness on January 16, 2016. He was born in Syracuse and spent his life in Ithaca. His parents were Ann (Brazo) Taber and Salvatore Ronsvalle. He is survived by his wife Katie of 58 years, and his children, Roxanne Ronsvalle of Ithaca, Ronald Scott (Maureen) Ronsvalle of Lansing. His grandsons are Noah (Katie) Drew of Fort Worth Texas and Dominick and Nathaniel Ronsvalle of Lansing. He is predeceased by his sisters, Carol Benjamin, Helen Willett, and Betty (Liz) Taylor. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Ron served in the US Army from 1957 - 1959. He was also a musician his entire life and music was his passion. He was a drummer and a life time member of the Musicians Union. He played drums while he was in the service for the USO and for the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. When he returned from the service, he continued to play for many years with the Mellow Tones, The Ithaca Ageless Jazz Band and The Bowman Trio.

Ron was an independent agent for Prudential and owned the Ronsvalle Agency. He worked for Prudential for more than 40 years, and won awards for more than 15 years being in the top percentage for sales in this area. Ron volunteered his time working with the United Way, Challenge Industries, and the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Elks and a lifetime member of the VFW.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home. Burial with military honors at South Hill Cemetery will be delayed until spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Challenge Industries or the charity of one's choice.
