Roger E. Hubbard

December 13, 1941 — November 8, 2023

Roger E. Hubbard, 81, of Ithaca, New York, has bid farewell to this world on November 8, 2023, leaving a trail of cherished memories in his wake.

He was born December 13, 1941, in Connecticut to the late Edgar and Dorothy Hubbard. Roger was predeceased by his sister, Ann Harris, and grandson, Robert Cornish Jr.

Roger, a proud United States Navy Veteran and dedicated Boy Scout leader for Troop 50 in Enfield, NY, left an indelible mark with his service at the Ithaca Gun Company, continued commitment at Gun Black and contributions to the Ithaca Journal.

Roger, a man whose heart beat in rhythm with the revving engine of his beloved 1972 Chevelle was a true aficionado of life's simple pleasures. His eyes sparkled with enthusiasm as he showcased this beauty at car shows, sharing stories and forging connections with fellow car enthusiasts. His adventurous spirit extended to snowmobiling, motorcycles, and NASCAR races.

Beyond the purr of engines, Roger found solace by the water's edge, fishing rod in hand. Whether it was the thrill of the catch or the adrenaline of the rippling waves, he embraced every moment spent in nature.  Roger took joy in observing and caring for the birds as well as his yardwork which was not merely a chore but a labor of love and an emblem of dedication.

Yet, amidst these hobbies and interests, Roger's greatest joy came from the warmth of family and the laughter shared during summer pool gatherings and holiday celebrations that he meticulously hosted. Creating memories that would last a lifetime, he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the bonds that held his family together.

Roger is survived by his daughter Rhonda (Robert Cornish Sr.); granddaughters Ryan Ann Cornish (Mike Kristek), Cassey Cornish, Sammie (Cody) Price; great-granddaughter Gianna Cornish; grandson Tylor Hubbard; Cousin Steve (Jonnie) Dorsey, three additional great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and other distant family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of choice in Roger's honor. Private services will be held at a future date with only close family members present.
