Rodney Kearl, 68, of Ithaca passed away on September 5, 2022. He was born on September 8, 1953, in Ithaca, New York. He attended Ithaca and Lansing schools, graduating from LHS in 1971. Rodney received his bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University in 1978 and received a master’s degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 1993. Rodney had a successful career as a landscape architect that spanned over thirty years, working in a variety of places throughout the United States and the world. He lived and worked for several years in both Alexandria, Virginia and Laguna Beach, California. He lived in St. Thomas, USVI for five years when he managed the design office for the Department of Conservation of the US Virgin Islands. In the latter part of his career, he lived and worked in Saudi Arabia, as well as living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for six years, working in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.  Rodney was predeceased by his mother and father, Marjorie Lee Lail Kearl and Chase Delmar Kearl, as well as a sister, Gail and brother, Steven. Rodney is survived by one brother, Kenneth Kearl (Patricia), and sisters, Sandra Stone (Ed Kirker), Debra Minnock (William), Shari Sprole (Robert), as well as many nieces and nephews. Rodney was an intelligent, kind, beautiful soul and he will be dearly missed.
