Roberta Lee (Bailey) Schoch
After over 40 years of being non-verbal, Roberta is talking & singing in Heaven with her Savior Jesus. Roberta Lee Bailey was born in Weston, WV July 21, 1929 and was called home on May 21, 2015 after a short illness.
She met her Navy sailor husband, William (Bill), while she worked for the FBI in Washington. They wed in 1953 and moved to Ithaca. After a few years of employment at Cornell, with joy she mothered Karen (Gonzalez) and Linda (Crispell), and enjoyed flower gardens, sewing, canning, antiquing, teaching 4H and singing with the church choir. She especially loved watching her husband, Bill, play in jazz bands, and socializing with families of the other band members. Following a stroke at the age of 43, she powerfully re-learned many of her skills, with the exception of fluent speech. She diligently accomplished many projects, including refinishing a piano and other furniture. She lovingly watched six grandchildren grow into beautiful people. Three in Florida, Liz, Jen (Bouse) and Joe Gonzalez, and three in Brooktondale, NY, Taylor, Hannah & Faith Crispell. She is the proud great-grandmother of Eva Ptak and Emily Bouse in Florida. With humbleness and thankfulness, she lived in the care of daughter, Linda, and her family. She enjoyed going to plays, watching movies and listening to music, and especially loved to "remind" her loved ones of potentially forgotten tasks.
She is also survived by her sister, Elladene Heskett of Weston, WV; a niece, nephews and cousins in West Virginia. She was pre-deceased by her precious brothers, French and Richard Bailey. They were the four children of Greeta & French C. Bailey.
