Robert Francis Wood

SUMMERTON SC – Robert Francis “Woody” Wood, 79, widower of Orcelia Jane Kimball Wood,

passed away Friday, April 5, 2024, at his home.

Born October 6, 1944, in Ithaca, NY, he was a son of the late Robert DeForest Wood and Lorraine

Connors Wood. Woody retired from NYSEG in 2000 and was a part of the Quarter Century Club, as

well as a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and Ithaca Elks Club. He was the most wonderful

and caring person you could ever meet, but most importantly the best father, grandfather, great

grandfather, uncle, and friend to all.

He is survived by two daughters, Kim Smith (Mitch Arthur) of Jacksonville, FL and Tammy Hart

(Bob) of Van Wyck, SC; a nephew, Jacob Wood (Laurie) of Marietta, SC; the mother of his children,

Roberta Barnett of Jacksonville, FL; two stepsons, Tim Metz and Jody Metz, both of Ohio; seven

grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two great nieces; a sister-in-law, Enid Wood of

Massachusetts; and a cousin, Dr. Michael Francis Connors (Patricia) of Kansas. Predeceased in

passing by his brother Donald Wood, stepson Scott Metz, and friend Judy Roberts.

Calling hours will be held at Bangs Funeral Home in Ithaca on August 24 from 10:30am – 12:00pm.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Ithaca NY. At 1:00pm a Celebration of Woody’s life will be

held at Ithaca Elks Club.

The family would like to thank all the friends and neighbors who have always been there during

these last few years.
