Robert Charles Stout Jr.

August 25, 1951 — May 12, 2023

Ithaca

Robert C. Stout Jr was born August 25, 1951.

Everyone who knew Rob (Bob to some) knew he was a straightforward man, who let you know where you stood in his life. If he liked you, he would give you the shirt off his back. But if you did something to make him distrust you, then he would let you know that you weren't worth his time.

He joined the Air Force on May 14,1970, and after training, he was sent to Vietnam. He was there when they signed the treaty, got his honorable discharge and was sent home May 13,1976. He was a truck driver for a while, then met me, his soon to be wife , in 1982. We married in 1983, and then built our own house in Slaterville. We had two children, Amanda Lynn, and Thomas Joseph. He worked for 19 years at the Cargill salt mines in Lansing, as a master mechanic. As Thomas grew older, he began teaching his son how to use his hands to fix things, including cars. Tom had so much belief in his father, that if he told Tom that he could move mountains if he wanted to, Tom knew he probably could.

His daughter, Amanda made him so proud too. He told everyone that she's a teacher at the Homer high school. And the three grandsons that he has, he was the proudest grandfather in the world. Rob had been an avid fisherman to the very end. Trolling he said, was the only way to catch those huge fish !

In 2017, Rob and I bought property out on Point Peninsula in Three Mile Bay, where it became the perfect getaway. In the early hours of May 12, 2023, Rob decided he never wanted to leave there, and passed away unexpectedly .

Rob was a giant of a man, and one of a kind.

His family is having a memorial gathering at the home on June 3rd. Those who don't remember the address, please contact me, (Joyce) and you will be given the address.

A private family burial will be at a later date, with military salute, to honor such an amazing man.

Rest in peace my dear Rob ❤️
