Robert Schieber

Robert Schieber, 97, of Ithaca, New York died peacefully on October 19, 2023. Robert was born on December 23, 1925 in Bucyrus, Ohio. He developed a passion for music after taking violin lessons in grade school and changed to viola after college. He had a professional musical career teaching and conducting at Western Michigan University, University of Florida, and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. He was passionate about Gustav Mahler and loved playing chamber music. In 1950 he married Marilyn Warnecke and together they enjoyed traveling on many overseas trips. They retired to Trumansburg, New York in 2011. After Marilyn died in 2019 Bob spent his remaining years at Longview Independent Living where he made many special friends.

He was a witty, passionate, and principled man and he was the best father to his two daughters, Julie (Tom Prisloe) and Merry (Jim Gentry). He was the beloved grandfather to Jamie Boothroyd (Megan), Justin Boothroyd, Abigail Prisloe and Will Prisloe and great grandfather to Max, Conner and Aiden Boothroyd. He is survived by his brother Richard Schieber of Naples, Florida. He is greatly missed.
