Robert James "Jim" Clines Jr., 60 of Ithaca NY, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 6, 2013 from Melanoma Cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Sr. and Nancy Gallagher Clines and brother Casey Clines.
Jim was a native Ithacan. He was a 1971 graduate of Ithaca High School where he was head RAM on the undefeated 1970 New York State Championship Little Red Football team. Jim worked as a chief gas fitter at NYSEG for the past 38 years. During his tenure at NYSEG, he served as treasurer on the Executive Board of Local #961 and had been a Unit Chair of Local #83. Jim was an usher for football, basketball, hockey and lacrosse games for the Cornell Athletic Department for the past 26 years. He was an avid fan and lifelong supporter of Ithaca High Athletics and also the NY Yankees, NY Giants and NY Rangers. He loved spending time in the summer with family and friends at his cottage on Lansing Station Rd.
Jim will be remembered for his quick wit and his great sense of humor. He brought laughter to those who knew him. You only had to meet Jim once to have a story to tell.
A loving and devoted husband and father, Jim is survived by his wife, Francesca and daughters Megan and Lauren; his sister and brother in law, Colleen and Richard Greene, his brother Kevin and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his aunt, Jean Gallagher Welch and her children; Patty, Katie, Mike and Frank.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church at 11 a.m. on Friday September 13th. Friends may call Thursday September 12th from 4-7pm at Bangs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to Ithaca High School Lacrosse, c/o Frank Welch 114 E. Lincoln St., Ithaca, NY 14850.
Jim and his family would like to thank Drs. Timothy Bael and John Powell and the staff at Hospicare for their efforts and support. Jim and his family would also like to give a very heartfelt "shout out" to friend Gail Stark Hughes and family, who have all provided unwavering support throughout Jim's illness.
