Breen, Robert F.

Robert F. Breen, 79, of Newfield passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Cayuga Medical Center. He was born in Ithaca, son of the late Aloysius and Helen Strong Breen. Bob was a graduate of Ithaca High School and served with the United States Army. He retired from the Ithaca Fire Department in 1987 after many years of service. His fellow firefighters were his second family. Bob was a member of the VFW Post 961 and the Veteran Fireman's Association and was the UNC Tar Heels Basketball Team's biggest fan. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Hubbell Breen; his children, Jill (Rick) Reed, Judy (Dave) Davis, Brenda (Patrick) Crummie, Robert (Carol) Breen, Brian (Tabitha) Breen and Patrick (Renee) Breen and his grandchildren, Christine, Michael, Andrew, Spencer, Alanna, Cassy, Mikenna and Garrett. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Karen Malcolm and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was also predeceased by his daughter, Pamela Sue Breen; his brother, John and sisters, Marilyn and Marguerite. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25th at 12 noon at the Bangs Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, May 24th from 4 to 7 p.m. Private interment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Pamela Sue Breen Scholarship Fund, c/o Tioga State Bank, 183 Main St., Newfield, NY 14867.
