Sullivan, Richard J.Richard J. Sullivan, of Ithaca, NY and Englewood, FL, died peacefully on September 29, 2013 in Leesburg, VA at the INOVA Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his children by his side. He was born in Ithaca on August 8, 1928 to the late Edward and Cornelia Presser Sullivan.

He is survived by his three children, Mark Sullivan of Queensbury, NY, Kathleen Sullivan and her husband, Michael Casey, of Leesburg, VA, and John Sullivan and his wife, Kat, of Leesburg, VA, from his marriage to the late Phyllis Hunsinger. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Emily Usher and her husband, David, of San Antonio, TX, Adam Hernandez and his fiancée, Anna Badyoczek, of Seattle, WA, Ian and Mark Sullivan of Leesburg, VA; and great-grandson, Dylan Usher of San Antonio, TX. Richard was predeceased by his brothers,Robert Sullivan, John L., Edward and Patrick (Alfred) Sullivan and sisters, Genevieve Cratsenburg, Rita Newhart and Patricia Dougherty and his surrogate parents, Raymond and Luella Thompson. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Dorothy Foux of Berkshire, NY, and her children, Carol, Barb, Paul & Leroy.

Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945 and was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He was employed by NCR and was a business agent for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He attended St. Patrick's Church in Owego, NY. Richard was an avid fisherman, hunter, and card player. He was a fan of Notre Dame, Syracuse University and the NY Yankees. He was a life member of the Danby Pirates Club and numerous fraternal organizations. He loved spending the winter months at his home in Englewood, FL. Special thanks to the staff at INOVA Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Capital Caring for their support and loving care they provided to our Father.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity . Calling hours will be Thursday, October 3, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Bangs Funeral Home in Ithaca. Funeral services at Calvary Cemetery will be private
