Richard Lyle Miller, 73, passed into the arms of his Savior Saturday morning October 26, 2013, at his home in Newfield, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born on January 29th, 1940, to Richard and Betty Miller. He was predeceased by his parents, and sisters Judy and Betty Lou. Richard learned the building trades and worked in his father's contracting business before going into business for himself in the late 1970's. He was known for his amazing versatility, creativity and inventive abilities in all areas of construction and auto mechanics. Always tinkering, it was not uncommon to find him "tuning" a friend's hot rod, or helping rebuild a motor for a son's truck, or welding a plow frame back together. The constant teacher, he was always explaining why things had to be the way he did them. Few could match his determination. Richard loved to spend time with his family camping, hunting and fishing. Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Dorothy (Dottie) Miller; his sons Richard Lyle (Dickie 2), Daniel Edward, and Duanne Arthur; his daughters-in-law Cheryl, Karen, and Jodie; his grandchildren, Brandy, Tonya, Christopher, Neil, Wayne, Alexander and Joel; his great grandchildren, Brian and Alessandra; his brothers, Gary (Linda), Donald (Anita); his sisters Cathy (Richard Mooney), Connie (Pete Pendergast), and Cyndi (Keith Tilley). Calling hours, Friday, November 1st, from 7 to 9pm and a Memorial Service, Saturday, November 2 at 1 pm, will be held at Agape Bible Church, 264 S. Applegate Rd. Ithaca, NY 14850.
