Richard C. "Rick" Jones, Jr.

Richard C. Jones, Jr. (Rick) Jones, 61, of Lansing, NY passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2016. He is predeceased by his parents Richard C. Jones (Cecil) and Eunice Jones as well as sister Valerie Jones.

He is survived by sister, Candace Jones (Mark DeNovellis) of Endicott, NY; brother, Robert (Mike) Jones of Endicott, NY; as well as nephews Zac Davenport of Boston, MA and Matthew Jones of Chicago, IL.

Rick was born in Ithaca, NY and was a lifelong resident of Lansing, NY where he graduated from high school in 1974. He went on to graduate from Ithaca College with a degree in physical education. Rick was a local business owner for more than 40 years. He operated R&J Amusements, R&J Mini-Storage, Lansing Tent Rentals, and Candyman Vending. Rick was frequently seen around local establishments and enjoying sporting events. Rick was an avid sportsman excelling in wrestling, football, and track. He was inducted into the Lansing High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011. Hunting and fishing were also passions for Rick and he spent many weekends on Cayuga Lake trying to find the perfect spot.

Calling hours will be held at Bangs Funeral Home in Ithaca, NY on Monday April 25, 2016 from 3pm to 6pm. A private memorial service will be held for family and friends. To honor Rick, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lansing Sports Booster Club in c/o Debbie Todd, 300 Ridge Rd Lansing, NY 14882.
