Richard John (Dick) Haynor

September 10, 1932 — October 25, 2012

Richard John (Dick) Haynor passed away peacefully on October 25, 2012 at the Cayuga Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong resident of Ithaca, NY he was born on September 10, 1932 and was the son of the late Stanley and Helen Saunders Haynor.

Dick graduated from Ithaca High School and attended Ithaca College, garnering accolades for his athletic accomplishments. He proudly served in the U.S Army during the Korean War
Dick was a foreman at the Cayuga Rock Salt Company for many years, and worked as a real estate agent until his retirement.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan his entire life - highlighted by being a special guest in the Busch Stadium booth of Jack Buck, longtime announcer for the Cardinals. Another passion was lovingly preparing home cooked meals for family and friends where his recipes were desired by all. He was a life time member of the Elks Club, liked to polka, attend horse races and all sporting events, drive his Lincoln Town Car and play a lively game of pinochle with friends.

He is survived by his loving wife June Michele Solomon Haynor, her daughter, Tammy J. Johnson and granddaughter, Cali Michele Johnson.
He is also survived by his sons Richard Mark Haynor and grandson Mark Anthony Haynor of Surprise, AZ, Daryl Jay Haynor and wife Phyllis, and grandchildren Nicolas and Kristen of Oakton, VA, and Christopher Todd Haynor of White Plains, NY. He was predeceased by his first wife Ursula (Sue) Jones Haynor. He is also survived by his brother Edward Haynor and wife Paula of Fayetteville, NY and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful and caring professionals of the 4th floor South of Cayuga Medical Center.

The family will receive guests at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 29th at St. Catherine of Siena Church at 302 St. Catherine Circle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Joseph Marcoux at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow the service at the Calvary Cemetery.

Dick was a gentle and kind man who will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be truly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception School, 320 West Buffalo Street, Ithaca, NY 14850. Arrangements are by the Bangs Funeral Home.
