Richard Dutton

August 21, 1938 — April 26, 2018

Richard “Dick” Dutton, Sr., son of the late George Dutton and Loretta Keenan, died April 26, 2018, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 79. In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his sisters Louise Stevens and Betty Liddington, and brothers George (Dutton) Randolph and John Dutton. His sisters Judy (John Kolly) Covert, Jeanette Keenan, Dawn (Stanley) Jones, and Joyce (Earl) Hulslander survive him. Dick’s wife of almost 42 years, Ruth Dutton, who cared for him for the past 8 years, also survives him.

Dick was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved those times spent with his sons Dick and Dominic. He was well known on the river for helping people catch “the big one.”

Dick loved all of his children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He is survived by his sons Richard (Melody) Dutton, Jr., Dominick (Kris) Dutton, and Joe (Arlene) Cruz, daughter Marcela Cruz Frink, grandchildren Mandy and Megan, Sean and Emma, Desiree and Brandon, Nicole, Tommy and Ashley, and greatgrandchildren Brooke, Briella, Cain and Octavius, Rylan, Jackson, Isabel, Bryan, Lia, Jenna, Reuben and Paxton.

Dick, also known as Papa, is survived by his wife’s children, Joyce Williams, Geri (Andy) Egan, Nick Cito III, Ruth Cito (Lisa Bloom) and Sheri Meminger Broadus (Elliot), grandchildren Lacy, Chelsea, Jackie, Jamie, Jenna and Sammy, and greatgrandchildren Elijah, Janelle, Janaiyah and Joharra. He loved them all as well.

Lastly, Jim Backner and Joe Renda will miss their longtime friend.

A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at a later date. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family during this difficult time.
