Reverend Nelson Roger Reppert

April 25, 1935 — September 9, 2021

Reverend Nelson Roger Reppert was born in Venango, Pa. April 25, 1935 and died Thursday, September 9, 2021 in Ithaca, New York. He was the son of Carl Arnold Reppert and Mildred Albright Reppert and had four siblings: Dan (Frances Stewart), Carol, Judy (Robert Aho), and Ruth. Nelson married Joan Davis June 19, 1955 and they had three children: daughter Denise (Joe McEnerney) , son Timothy Wesley Albright (Victoria Chang), and daughter LuAnn (Tom Love). Grandchildren: Andrew Noyes, Sophie Reppert, Angela McEnerney, Charlie Love, Laura McEnerney, Remy Love, Louie Reppert; Great granddaughter Wilhelmina Opal Chapman. Nelson also had many nieces and Nephews. Special friends, Reverend Gary and June Hakes.

When the Reppert family moved from Pennsylvania to Addison, New York in 1948, Reverend Carl Reppert said that they moved there because the Bishop appointed him there. Nelson said that God had them move there so he could meet Joan. Nelson and Joan have been a pair from then until September 9, 2021. His second love was music. Nelson played in the All-State Band and when he attended Ohio Wesleyan University he played in the Symphonic Orchestra. He enjoyed playing his trombone and singing, while Joan played the piano. They were a duet many times in worship services during the pandemic

Nelson graduated from High School in Addison, New York in 1953, went to college at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio and National College for Christian Workers in Kansas City, Missouri. While at Ohio Wesleyan University, he joined the Air Force ROTC. He finished college in 1960 at Utica College of Syracuse University.  Following his undergraduate education he went on to graduate from Wesleyan Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

As a pastor, Nelson served many churches, ie. 1954 Arley, Missouri, 1959 West Canada Valley Parish and filled in for his father as pastor of the Canisteo Valley Cooperative Parish while his father was in the hospital dying from cancer. While in Seminary, from 1961 to 1964 he served three churches in Delaware: Lincoln, Slaughter Neck, and Cedar Neck; 1964 Orwell, Altmar, Pineville, Ricard, Richland, 1967 Pulaski, 1970 Christ's Church- Elmira, 1973 Corning Grace, 1976 St. Paul's Ithaca (Assoc) and Wesley Foundation at Cornell University, 1980 Sabbatical to study spiritual development, 1986 Tully United, 1998 Syracuse University Church, 2002 Retired, 2003 Enfield, 2006 Enfield and Jacksonville, 2010 Jacksonville; Retired 2015.

There will be a Memorial Service October 15, 2021 at Stewart Park Large Pavilion, Ithaca, NY 2-4 p.m. Funeral arrangements are by Bangs Funeral Home. Nelson's body is donated to Science.
