It was a quiet summer morning Thursday, August 10, 2023, when at 5:50 am, Rebecca Ann Sundquist-Lux (better known as Beckie, or The Rose Lady), peacefully left this earth, and joined her savior, Jesus Christ in Heaven, and reunited with her loved ones who left this earth before her.
Rebecca is survived by her husband Roy Lux, daughters, Lisa Sundquist and Lori Burlew, son, Peter M. Sundquist, as well as "her favorite son in law" , Mark Burlew.
In addition, she is survived by her sister Mary Ellen Houghtalen, several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, as well as many other extended family members, friends, and caregivers.
Rebecca was predeceased in death by her first husband, Peter I. Sundquist, her daughter, Linda Meadows, her granddaughter , Melissa Bailor, her mother, Abbie McComb, father, Edwin McComb, sister Betty Johnson, and brothers Richard, Gerald, Randy, and Russel McComb.
Rebecca was known for many things. She did many home parties, while working for Friendly Home Parties, Sarah Coventry Jewelry, Avon, and Tupperware.
Rebecca was also known for her position as a corrections officer at the Tompkins County Jail, and as a volunteer with "Shot in the dark" , a local beep baseball team. However, what she will be remembered for by many people, is her making of silk and/or paper roses.
Rebecca was incredibly crafty and talented. Not only did she write her own poem books, but she made hundreds, if not thousands of roses.
If you ever had the pleasure to meet her, she probably made you a paper rose. It seemed that she always had floral tape and pipe cleaners in her purse, and she could make a rose out of anything (paper napkins, dollar bills, etc.).
Not only did Rebecca make single roses for people when she met them, but she also made roses and arrangements for many weddings and other events.
Rebecca/Mommy/Gramma, we love you. You will be forever in our hearts, and you will never be forgotten. You brought happiness in to the lives of all who knew you, and the world will forever be a better place because you were in it.
For those wishing to make a donation in Rebecca's name, please invest your time, and/or money in to brightening someone else's day through random acts of kindness.
