Peter Torchia, 91, of W. King Rd., passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Cayuga Medical Center. He was born in Utica, son of the late Santo and Maria Fragale Torchia.
Pete served with the United States Army during World War II and was retired from NYSEG after working in their accounting department for 35 years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, V.F.W. Post #961, American Legion Post 770 and the Ithaca Elks Lodge #636.
Pete is survived by his sons, Timothy, Matthew (Marcy), Stephen and Andrew (Amy); his grandchildren, Angelina, Isabella and Samantha and his sister, Angelina Torchia. In addition to his parents, Pete was predeceased by his wife, Helen E. Torchia and his son, Lee Thomas Torchia who both died in 1997.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jeffrey Tunnicliff on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pete's memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
