Peter J. Mailhot ("Pierre") passed away at home on Friday, June 7, 2012 after an extended illness. He was born on March 12, 1931 in Rawdon, Quebec, Canada, son of the late Stanisclaus and Mary Jane (Quinn) Mailhot.
An avid skier, Pierre had been a ski instructor at Greek Peak for more than 45 years and worked on a part time basis as an usher at Cornell University sporting events during the past 20 years. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church.
Pierre is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jean Mailhot; his children, Marie (Bertrand) Mailhot, Jean Mailhot, Annette (Tim) McCabe, Karen (Tom) Lanning and Larry Firestone. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Dunphy, thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, In addition to his parents, Pierre was also predeceased by his first wife, Raymonde and four sisters and a brother.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. Joseph Marcoux on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Catherine of Siena Church. The family will greet friends immediately following the mass at a reception in the parish center. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make a contribution in Pierre's memory are asked to consider the Greek Peak Ski Club or the St. Catherine of Siena Church. Bangs Funeral is assisting the family.
