Peter A. Hansen, 69, of Danby, NY, died Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at his home following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Daggett, MI, son of the late Michael and Anna Duda Hansen.
Pete was a proud 29 year veteran of the military. He served with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and served an additional 25 years with the NY Army National Guard where he was a tank commander and infantryman. He was also a joint instructor with the National Guard/Reserve NCO School. During his military career he had multiple deployments both while attached to the military and also as a private contractor including service in Afghanistan and at Ground Zero following the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
Pete is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda Rejmer and daughter, Abigail Massey; his siblings, George (Dorothy) Chernovsky, Caroline Champion, Carl (Kathy) Hansen, Mathilda Griffith, Michael (Linda) Hansen, Vince Hansen and William Rasunen, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his siblings, Christine Debrauwere, Alex Chernovsky and Janet Rasunen.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Tuesday, May 4 th , 2021 at 11 am at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Friends may call Monday, May 3 rd from 4 to 6 pm at the Bangs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Danby Community Church.
