Peter J Ciferri aka "Pasta", 66, passed away on March 30th, in Bradenton, Florida.
A native of the Bronx, Peter relocated to Ithaca in 1971; following his tour in Vietnam where he was an SP4 Special Forces Airborne Ranger.
Peter's greatest joys and legacies are his children, Peter J (Paolo) Ciferri III, Marley Ann Ciferri, and Kristen L Ciferri. Peter was blessed by the birth of his granddaughter Sophia Camacho and he loved her immensely and passionately as he did all his children.
Anyone who knew Peter will recall his tremendous smile and passion for life. He loved all things beautiful and was proud of his Italian heritage. He inherited his love of food from his grandmother and passed this on to his children. Peter spent many years enjoying gourmet food and fine wine and enlightening his family, friends and patrons of Simeon's on the Commons. Peter's nickname "Pasta" was the perfect moniker, joining his love of Jamaica and Reggae music and his ethnic roots.
Peter is survived by his sister, Patricia Fodor, of Bradenton, FL; and his nephews Scott Fodor and Demetrius Becard. He maintained a close relationship with his ex-wife Sharon Ciferri and they enjoyed every moment of their time with granddaughter Sophia, who called him "Packa".
Peter married Marilyn (Lyn) Reitenbach on August 20, 1988 and the two remained married until his death. Lyn and the entire family would like to invite friends to celebrate Peter's life on April 18th. There will be calling hours at Bangs Funeral Home from 10 am - noon followed by a Memorial service at Lake Watch Inn, 1636 E. Shore Dr. from 12 - 2pm. The family welcomes friends to share a memory of Peter in writing or at the Lake Watch Inn that day.
In lieu of flowers those wishing to express sympathy may contribute to a custodial savings account set up specifically for the children's educational costs. Contributions may be sent to Tompkins Trust Company; attention Ciferri benefit. Donations to the Vietnam Veterans of America also welcome.
