Perry Lafayette Huested passed away peacefully August 9, 2015 after a brief illness. He is survived by his brother, S. Burton Huested; his sisters Holly Shepard and Heather McManus; three nieces and two nephews.
Born June 14, 1948, Perry was raised in Blauvelt, NY. He graduated from New England College shortly before he moved to the Ithaca area where he lived for the rest of his life. He worked at Cornell Plantations for many years. He was a passionate union supporter, UAW organizer, and the voice of Bear Facts radio. After retiring, he worked at Cornell's Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.
Perry was an adventurer who lived life to its fullest. He was a sky diver, scuba diver, international traveler, pilot and golfer. He drove race cars at Watkins Glen International at the Skip Barber Racing School. A child of the sixties, Perry was a rocker, animal lover, singer, poet and free spirit. He touched many lives and had a far-reaching circle of friends. He will missed by everyone who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Cornell Plantations, followed by a gathering at 5pm at The Rose, Ithaca NY. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are directed to the American Cancer Society or the S.P.C.A. of Tompkins County.
