Dec 15, 1928 – Oct 13, 2018
Patricia “Pat” Hanna passed away peacefully at her home Saturday evening October 13, 2018, surrounded by family and loved ones, just two months shy of her 90th birthday.
Born in New Philadelphia, Ohio, Pat was the daughter of Veneta Fay (Robson) Warner and George William Warner. She lived most of her young life in Bolivar (Ohio) where her father was a tender for the Bolivar Dam on the Muskingham Valley River Authority. Pat graduated from Bolivar High School in 1944, a class of 14, at age 16. https://www.mwcd.org/places/dams-and-levees/bolivar-dam
Pat attended Kent State University in Ohio, and completed an RN degree in nursing at Massillon City Hospital (Ohio). She spent most of her adult years in Hudson, Ohio, where she raised her family. Pat was employed by Western Reserve Academy in Hudson as a nurse in her later years and also worked as a volunteer EMT.
Pat moved to Ithaca in 2012 to be close to her daughter’s family after having been a frequent visitor to Ithaca for more than 30 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ithaca and the P.E.O. Sisterhood (Chapter AF). She enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sporting events and concerts over the years, and all holidays, celebrations, and recently weddings, spent with family. She also enjoyed watching tennis and basketball, most notably her Cleveland Cavaliers with LeBron James. She thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the McGraw House community in Ithaca, loved a good cup of coffee, and until the last few years she adored talking politics.
Her family includes daughter Pamela Hanna (Gregory Menzenski) of Ithaca, and her son Steven Hanna (Bonnie MacNab) of Danville, California.
Her beloved grandchildren:
Matthew Menzenski (Sarah Chao) of Kansas City, Missouri
Mark Menzenski (Kim Gerwig Menzenski) of Hammond, Wisconsin
Joseph Menzenski of McLean, Virginia
Zachary, Ryan, and Alix Hanna of Danville, California
Pat was predeceased by her beloved son Michael Hanna in 1972, her sisters Sara Jane Walls and Judith Kay Lash, as well as her former husband Clarence Hanna.
The family is very grateful for all the loving care Pat received at the end of her life, especially from caregivers Lori Joseph, Thia Harriett, Tammi Ferris (all of whom lovingly cared for the family as well), and others, the care providers from Hospicare, Dr. Elisabeth Cotton and her staff, and the supportive staff at McGraw House.
Services will be held on Saturday November 10, 2018 at 1:30 P.M., at the First Congregational Church in Ithaca 309 Highland Rd. Ithaca. Bangs Funeral Home coordinating.
