Nova Raupp

November 4, 1914 — August 21, 2012

Raupp, Nova

Nova Arsenault Raupp, a resident of the Evergreen Senior Residence, in Jacksonville, NY, quietly passed on in the early morning of August 21, 2012, with her niece, Patty Classen, at her side. She was 97. The day before, other family members gathered around Nova, to hold her hand, to recall some of the very special people and events in her life, and to pray with her. Over the last several years her health had seriously declined. Nova was born on November 4th, 1914, in the small village of Gordon, in northern Wisconsin. She was the youngest of nine children born to Antoine and Eleanor Arsenault. She married Lornie Raupp in Michigan, where they lived and worked for many years. Nova could always be counted on to help her many nieces and nephews when new babies arrived. For many years she worked as a volunteer with the American Red Cross Blood Program. During retirement they lived in Bushnell, FL, where she and Lornie continued to enjoy their many friends, eating out, and fishing. After her husband's death, Nova moved to the McGraw House in Ithaca NY, to be near her sister, Marian Freeman Manore, and other family in the area. She also lived for several years back in Michigan, with her dear friend and sister-in-law, Betty Raupp. Because of failing health, she returned to Ithaca, NY and lived with Jane (her niece) and Dick Classen of Newfield, NY. She then moved to Patty Classen's senior residences, Old Hundred, in Ithaca, NY, and then to The Evergreen, in Jacksonville, NY. She was cared for with love and understanding! Nova had no children of her own, but was deeply loved by both sides of the family. To the very many nieces and nephews she was a beloved aunt, and to many she was their favorite aunt. She will be fondly remembered. Thank you, Lord, for this good woman! Her ashes will be returned to Michigan to be placed next to her husband, Lornie. Bangs Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
