Norma D. Russo

December 20, 1933 — October 19, 2021

Norma D. Russo (Forbes), 87, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY and Newfield, NY, passed away on October 19, 2021 at her home in Harleysville, PA.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Anthony M. Russo, and her brother Norman Forbes.  Norma is survived by her daughter, Dorothy M. Russo, her son, Anthony J. (Pamela) Russo, and several nieces and nephews.

On December 20, 1933, Norma was born to Norman M. and Dorothy M. Forbes in Niagara Falls, NY, later graduating from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing.  While in Niagara Falls, she met and married her husband as well as becoming a Registered Nurse, practicing at Niagara Falls Memorial and Buffalo General hospitals; later in Denver, CO, at Swedish Hospital and as a Private Care Nurse in Ithaca, NY.

In 1977, the family settled in Newfield, where Norma raised her family and worked as an advocate for the physically disabled, serving as the Board Secretary for the Gadabout transportation service for two decades.  While living in Newfield, she was an active volunteer and member of the community, an avid gardener, and a member of the Red Hat Society/Ladybugs.  After moving to Harleysville, PA, she settled into the Arbour Square community, enjoying her time with friends and family, playing bingo, singing in the community choir, and pulling the occasional prank on her family.  She is missed deeply and will be remembered for her kindness, her mischievous humor, and her love for family.

In accordance with Norma’s wishes, a celebration of her life was held in Harleysville, PA, and Norma was laid to rest with her husband at Niagara Falls Memorial Park.  For those wishing, kindly consider directing a memorial remembrance to The Caring Foundation of Southeastern Hospice, 1501 Grundy Lane, Suite 100, Bristol, PA 19007.
