Nicholas Colongeli, 88, of Ithaca, died Sunday January 12, 2014 at the Cayuga Medical Center.
Born March 28, 1925 in Cortland ,NY son of the late Delfino and Maria Fazio Colongeli.
Nick was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, attended Ithaca College from 1947 to 1950 before being calling into the US Navy where he
spent Three years Aboard the Flagship U.S.S. Chilton Apa 38 as a Signalman 2nd Class. He served
in the Pacific during WWII and was a Kamakazi Survivor. The final two years of service were spent in the
Korean and Far East Campaigns. He participated in the second landing of the Philipine Invasion, the invasion of Okinawa and a landing at I E Shima. The end of his tour was spent at Com Nav Fe in Naval Intelligence.
In 1955 he ran for City Alderman.
Nick had various jobs and settled in at the US Post Office holding several positions until his retirement.

for your care in his time of need. Survivors include Sons: Dale and Mark Colongeli. in addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by
a Son: Matthew John Colongeli and Daughter: Elizabeth Ann Colonegli (1965)
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday January 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church with
Fr. Jeffrey Tunnicliff officiating. Burial with full Military honors to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Nick's memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Church. Bangs Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements
