Nancy Jane Weitzel

Nancy Jane Weitzel, 90, of Danby, NY, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024.

Born October 4, 1933, in Ithaca, NY, Nancy was the daughter of the late Albert and Mildred Siegenthaler Weitzel.

Nancy went to Rochester Business Institute on a scholarship from GLF/ Agway. She returned to Ithaca and worked at Agway, eventually going to Ithaca College. At Ithaca College she worked in the Registrar’s Office, finishing her career as an assistant to the Head of the Library, retiring in 1998.

She enjoyed many things including traveling, playing Bridge, puzzles, and gardening. She was a member of the Danby Planning Board, Danby Community Park Association (Dotson Park), and was a member of a local Sorority.

Nancy is survived by her brother Richard (Ann) Weitzel; her niece, Linda Weitzel; grandnephew, Zachary Johnson; and Grandnieces, Kristina Weitzel, Sarah Bell, and Rebecca Register. In addition to her parents, Nancy is predeceased by her nephew Douglas Weitzel.

Nancy’s memorial service will be Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 1:30pm at the Danby Community Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Danby Community Church steeple fund or the National Parks.
